“When I say DC, you say A… DCA! DCA!”
That was the pulse running through the Del-York Creative Academy halls on Monday, August 18th, 2025, as a fresh cohort of ambitious storytellers, filmmakers, and creatives arrived at the Victoria Island campus to begin their transformative journey.
The Del-York Creative Academy (DCA) officially opened its doors to welcome the August 2025 Cohort, marking the start of another cycle of world-class creative training at its Lagos campus.
The orientation commenced with a guided campus tour led by the Student Support Team, which introduced students to the Academy’s cutting-edge classrooms, studios, and facilities, as well as the cafeteria that would inevitably become a hub for collaborations, brainstorming, and countless creative conversations.

But the true spark came during the Instructor Introductions. The orientation was further elevated by the presence of celebrated industry figures and finest minds in Africa’s creative space- Stephanie Dadet, Folake Faranpojo, Iyke Okechukwu, Chinedum Iregbu, Emeka Anusiem, and Anthony Enahoro—each giving students not just a handshake, briefings, and a “drill” into the program but a window into their world of craft, resilience, and innovation, and setting the tone for the academic experience ahead.
Key orientation sessions laid out the Academy’s culture of learning, discipline, and professional growth:
Adding to the spark, DCA unveiled a lineup of star guest appearances that would grace the campus with their expertise and presence within the next six weeks: Daniel Etim-Effiong, Toyosi Etim-Effiong, Omoni Oboli, BB Sasore, Joey Akan, Regina Udalor, Unique Oliver, Raquel Scott, and more, all affirming DCA’s mission to blend classroom rigor with real-world insights.

The orientation concluded with an engaging Q&A session, the distribution of the DCA Welcome Kit, and an official group photograph capturing the excitement of the new cohort as they began their shared odyssey.

More than an orientation, it was a declaration of intent: that this August 2025 cohort has stepped into DCA not just to learn, but to reimagine the future of Africa’s creative industries.
In the words often echoed through the academy halls: “DCA is not just a school, it’s a movement.”
With this fresh intake, the Del-York Creative Academy continues to affirm its position as a leading training ground for Africa’s creative economy, equipping young talents with the skills, discipline, and global exposure needed to excel in film, media, and digital innovation.
